Death by Megadrive

George Pringle is a young lady from England who doesn’t really sing as much as she recites poetry over somewhat amateurish New Order-inflected beats and music. It shouldn’t work at all for me. Except that everything from her unnamed debut EP (especially “Carte Postale”) is brilliant. Her language is more Tom Waits than Bernard Sumner, often using seemingly non-sequiter details to draw the outlines of a narrative.

It also doesn’t hurt that she’s rather captivating to look at.
