Death by Megadrive

George Pringle is a young lady from England who doesn’t really sing as much as she recites poetry over somewhat amateurish New Order-inflected beats and music. It shouldn’t work at all for me. Except that everything from her unnamed debut EP (especially “Carte Postale”) is brilliant. Her language is more Tom Waits than Bernard Sumner, often using seemingly non-sequiter details to draw the outlines of a narrative.

It also doesn’t hurt that she’s rather captivating to look at.

FOOTBALL SEASON

“Football season” is back.

Andrew Tanenbaum, VOTEMASTER, has his page ready for the Presidential, Senate, and House Races. His maps have been the best visual representation of the various polling data for the last four years. Furthermore, his data correctly predicted ALL 33 Senate races in 2006. So keep your eyes on this guy.

The best news?

His maps predict an Obama blow-out.
