The Enormity

Nothing like a trip to The Met to reassure you of the enormity of art history.

Was disappointed to find that the American section is closed for renovations. They moved a good portion of it to the 19-20th Century section, including a pile of Singer Sargents (which I almost uniformly enjoy). Yet, a trip through the Modern section is showing a growing shift towards second-half 20th C stuff I couldn’t care less for (Rothko, Warhol, large canvassed exercises in Color Theory), in lieu of WWI-II shit like Ernst and Dali. I mean, fuck, what is more engrossing to you?

Max Ernst L’Ange du foyer ou Le Triomphe du surréalisme. 1937.

Or this?

Mark Rothko No. 13 (White, Red, on Yellow), 1958

Furthermore, I think Damien Hirst is a fucking hack.
